Attention all PTG members! Please stop by the quad area this Friday after school from 1:15-1:45 p.m. to vote for our PTG budget! The Human Rights Campaign is offering sessions at CVESD on the Welcoming Schools Approach in efforts to create safe and inclusive elementary schools for all students and parents. We would like to have representation from all schools at this meeting, and invite you as Salt Creek parents to attend the Wednesday evening session. Please see flyer attached. Please let us know if you will be attending!
Our first Coffee Chat is this Thursday, and guest speaker Larry Alvarado has a NEW presentation for us on “How to Teach your Child to be Successful”! Larry is a Salt Creek favorite, and you won’t want to miss this opportunity! Join us from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the MPR. Enjoy a cup of coffee and a book raffle as well! PTG will also be giving us some brief updates! Spread the word and invite another parent to come with you!
Our Salt Creek Ensemble is back, and Mrs. Lincoln (one of our music teachers) and Mrs. Ross are ready to hold auditions for interested 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th graders. Auditions will be held after school on Monday, August 21 in Room 403.

Salt Creek is one of only 47 schools in the San Diego County to have a partnership with Mission Federal Credit Union, and Mission 2 Save is just one of the ways that our students and families can benefit. You can open up a Savings Account for your child and they can learn financial literacy by applying savings habits early in life. Students can make deposits on campus every Wednesday before school. We also need one parent volunteer each Wednesday morning to help MFCU staff collect deposits and distribute prizes. If you can help, just let us know! The Salt Creek PTG will be available in the quad area tonight and tomorrow night during Curriculum Nights. We invite you to visit and join PTG, purchase some Spirit Wear for your child, and find out about volunteer opportunities! Please view the presentation to learn more about how our PTG supports your child and Salt Creek Elementary School!
Dear Salt Creek Families,
My name is Ashley Vasquez and I’m excited to introduce myself as the new Associate Principal of Salt Creek Elementary School. Over the past 10 years, I have worked as a teacher, math curriculum writer, and academic coach in the Chula Vista Elementary School District. I grew up in Hawaii and moved to San Diego after graduating High School. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies, Bilingual Teaching Credential, and Administrative Services Credential from the University of San Diego. I have a Masters of Education in Teacher Leadership from the High Tech High Graduate School of Education. When I’m not serving your children, I’m spending time with my three beautiful children: Jacob (12), Makai (4), and Mila (1).
I’m looking forward to getting to know each and every one of your children, their unique personalities, special skills and talents, and academic interests. I will encourage them to be creative and innovative, support their individual learning styles, celebrate their continuous academic growth, and let them know how special they are to our school. I’m so thankful to have this opportunity to work with your amazing community and am looking forward to an exciting school year!
Salt Creek Associate Principal
