Hello Salt Creek Parents and Students!
I hope you have been enjoying your summer! We have been hard at work preparing for the new school year, and we are almost ready!
If you have not provided RESIDENCY, please come do this as soon as possible next week. Vanessa and Emma are ready to help you so that we can place your child on a class roster. Remember, if you do not provide verification of residency, we cannot distribute your class packet to you on Friday at our Information Fair.
Our annual INFO FAIR will be Friday, July 20th in the Multipurpose Room. Student envelopes will be ready for pickup any time between 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. These envelopes will list your child’s classroom teacher and room number, and the packet will include helpful information for the new school year.
The first day of school is Monday, July 23 and it will be MINIMUM DAY. School starts promptly at 8:15 a.m., and dismissal on this day will be 1:05 p.m. for Kindergarten (one to one pickup, please) and 1:15 for all other grades.
We look forward to seeing you all at the INFO FAIR!

We would like to hear from every family – your input matters! We want to keep providing the best services to your child and your family, and your input on this survey will help us know how we can best and better serve your needs! The last day to take the survey is May 31st. Thank you, parents!

Did you know that we have an amazing After School Chess Club at Salt Creek? Our After School Chess Club hosts chess tournaments where kids from all over San Diego County compete with each other. At one recent tournament, there were more than 100 kids competing for first place and the Grand Championship trophy. In order to win the Grand Championship trophy, a student must win 4 first place trophies in their division. This is very hard to accomplish, and only two kids have done so this school year—both of them from Salk Creek Elementary!!!
Andre Nuñez won the Grand Championship Trophy for the Kindergarten to 2ndgrade division, while Vinson Nguyen won the Grand Championship Trophy for the 3rdto 6thgrades.
Congratulations boys! We are so proud of you!

Congratulations to 6th grader David Mosquiera for being selected to receive the prestigious Optimist Award. Here are some words from his teacher, Mrs. Fallon:
David is an impressive young man who is respected by his peers, conscientious, and polite. David is one of those students who will go out of his way to help other students and adults. He showed patience and a positive attitude when we hosted guests from China and he served as an ambassador. He was patient while trying to communicate with our guests. As a leading Safety Patrol member he demonstrates dedication, leadership, and responsibility. When it comes to academics, David strives for excellence each and every day. I am confident that in the future he will achieve whatever he sets as his goal in life.
His dedication and compassion to help others does not end at school. After school David volunteers his time by building homes for needy families in Mexico. His nonstop commitment to give of himself to benefit others is just one more example of his stellar character.
I have been fortunate to be David’s teacher this year. Thank you for your positive attitude all year and your great sense of humor. Thank you to David’s family for your continuous support and efforts to raise such a fine young man.
Ready to have and amazing experience where you can have the time of your life? Your Student Council President,
The Ecology Center team is headed to Salt Creek Elementary on a double-decker bus with their ‘Road Trip’ eco-education program! Road Trip will transform our campus into a multi-day interactive field trip, where students will learn skills like seed saving, growing food and composting. On Saturday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., students are invited to bring their families and friends to a special campus community event where the bus will open into an interactive exhibit for hands-on skills sharing around food, gardening, and making. When Road Trip departs, students and families will be left with the tools and inspiration to further cultivate a thriving community ecosystem in our own backyards and schoolyards.A special thank you to Mr. Kriss for getting our school this amazing program through a grant!!!!!
