Safety Patrol Summer Camp


The Chula Vista Police Department will be hosting a 5-day Safety Patrol Summer Camp for Safety Patrol members in 5th & 6th grade. Although the attached flyer says 6th graders only, the camp has been opened up to 5th & 6th grade students in Safety Patrol. This camp takes place during Summer Break on June 18-22, at Clear View Elementary School!

The camp will be run by Chula Vista School Resource Officers and will include a variety of engaging team building activities, safety patrol training, and leadership training. The cost is $100 payable to the Chula Vista Police Foundation. Don’t miss out on this fabulous opportunity! Salt Creek Talent Show


Hello Families!

Salt Creek’s Talent Show will be this Tuesday, April 17th, at 6:00 P.M. Tickets for this fantastic event are $5, $3, and $2, depending on the seat purchased. Attendees are able to video record/take pictures of the performers from assigned seating only.

Performers do not need to purchase tickets, however, all attendees age 2 years and older will need to purchase a ticket.

Tickets will be available for purchase on the morning of April 16th, and April 17th, immediately before and after school, as well as at 5:30, right before the show begins.

GATE Parent Committee


Hello Parents,

Our 3-Year GATE Plan for our school site will be expiring at the end of the year. In order to develop a new 3-Year GATE Plan, we would like to establish a new GATE Advisory Committee. We are looking for parents of GATE students to participate on this Advisory Committee. If you are interested in participating, please send an email to ashley.vasquez@cvesd.org. Your participation would include committing to coming to 3-4 after school meetings for the remainder of this school year.

Quarter 4 Monarch Butterfly Project


Our Quarter 4 Monarch Butterfly Project will begin Tuesday, April 10th, from 2:55-3:55. We invite all 4th-6th grade GATE STUDENTS to participate with our wonderful 4th grade teacher, Mr. Kriss, in planting, researching, and developing awareness around the issue of butterfly conservation.

This quarter, 3rd Grade GATE STUDENTS are also invited to participate in the Monarch Butterfly Project. A separate Monarch Butterfly Project class will occur for just 3rd Grade GATE STUDENTS on Wednesdays, starting Wednesday, April 11th.

Participation forms were sent home today with your child. There are two separate permission forms: one for Grades 4-6 and one for Grade 3. Space is limited to only 30 students for each class, so please make sure you turn in your sheet ASAP, to the front office. Students will be admitted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Copies of the participation forms are also attached here. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school office.

YMCA Silent Auction & Opportunity Drawing Details


Hello Salt Creek Families! The YMCA Silent Auction & Opportunity Drawing is upon us! Please see below for details regarding this exciting event!

  • The Silent Auction and Opportunity Drawing will take place this Friday, February 9th, during the Valentine’s Dance. They will be located on the stage inside the auditorium, starting at 6:00PM. Both the auction and the opportunity drawing will close promptly at 8:00PM.
  • Opportunity drawing tickets for the Associate Principal’s parking spot are $5 per ticket and are subject to UNLIMITED purchases.
  • Tickets can be purchased at the front of the school starting February 5th through February 9th, before and after school, and during the Valentine’s Day Dance.
  • Winner of the parking spot will be contacted after the end of the dance and will have reserved parking beginning Monday, February 12th running through June 1st, 2018.
  • Silent auction items will include several Valentine themed gift baskets and gift cards. Winners of the silent auction will be announced and contacted on the following school day, Monday, February 12th.
  • Some donations are needed to help support this event such as Valentine themed items, gift baskets, and gift cards. We hope that you will consider making this event possible with a much appreciated donation to our cause. Drop-offs can be made at the Salt Creek Main Office or the YMCA Room.

All proceeds will go towards the South Bay Family YMCA Annual Support Campaign in helping provide over $200,000 in support of Chula Vista students, military families, and the elderly through scholarships to pre-school, child care, camps, and facility access.

YMCA 2018 Annual Campaign


Dear Salt Creek Parents,

Our South Bay Family YMCA has launched its 2018 Annual Campaign, The Y. For a Better Us™. At Salt Creek Elementary YMCA, we have a goal of raising $5,000 this year to meet the needs of our community.

In support of this campaign, The Salt Creek YMCA Program will be hosting a Silent Auction and Opportunity Drawing of Associate Principal Ashley Vasquez’s parking spot.

Silent auction and opportunity drawing will take place in conjunction with Salt Creek Elementary School’s Valentine’s Dance on Friday, February 9th, located on the stage of the auditorium. More details about specific items in our Silent Auction and Opportunity Drawing sales to come!

Some donations are needed to help support this event such as Valentine themed items, gift baskets, and gift cards. We hope that you will consider making this event possible with a much appreciated donation to our cause. Drop-offs can be made at the Salt Creek Main Office or the YMCA Room.

Our 5th/6th Grade Technology Club will begin Wednesday, February 7th, from 2:50-3:50. We invite all 5th-6th grade GATE STUDENTS to participate with our wonderful 6th grade teacher, Mr. Kelly, in using iMovie to create and edit a broadcast news program/video.

Participation forms were sent home today with your child. Space is limited to only 25 students, so please make sure you turn in your sheet ASAP, to the front office. Winter Safety Patrol Camp


Safety Patrol Camp Flyer Winter

The Chula Vista Police Department will be hosting a 3-day Winter Safety Patrol Camp for Safety Patrol members in 5th & 6th grade. This camp takes place during Winter Break on January 3-5, from 8:00-2:00 PM, at Clear View Elementary School!

Shoe Drive


Salt Creek is currently participating in a Shoe Drive to support developing nations in Africa. The Shoe Drive will go until Thursday, November 9th. Please send any new, used, or gently worn shoes to school with your child to turn into their teacher. One primary class and one upper grade classroom will receive a Jamba Juice party for most pairs of shoes donated!
