The Benefits of Being Bilingual
by Alexia Flores
In my opinion being bilingual has opened up many opportunities for the future. When I say this I mean being bilingual has many helpful benefits that can really improve the future of many kid’s lives. One of the many benefits of being bilingual includes the ability to be able to better communicate with people that may not speak one of the languages that you speak like Spanish or English. For example, if you have to travel to a different country that doesn’t speak one of the languages you speak, you can use your bilingual abilities to be able to not only speak, but understand people better. Another helpful benefit is that being able to speak and understand another language can open up many other job opportunities for your future. What I mean by this is that there are some jobs that require speaking a different language maybe because they either require you to travel to a different place, or maybe if it’s a job at a store they would require this ability to communicate and understand the customers better. Finally, another benefit of being bilingual is that it can be very helpful when it comes to school. For example some schools require the student to know and have studied a different language in order to graduate, also being bilingual can expand your opportunities to get into a better college and receive a better education to prepare you for life. In conclusion, being bilingual has many different and helpful benefits that can really improve a child’s future and expand their opportunities for a better life and education.
